"Candy Crush" is making the jump from addictive game to primetime TV game show.

Executive producer Matt Kunitz officially announces that he will be producing a TV series for "Candy Crush". Kunitz revealed via The Verge, "The Candy Crush franchise lends itself perfectly to the kind of larger-than-life, physical game shows that I love to produce."

Matt Kunitz, who produced NBC's long-running game show Fear Factor, serves as the creator of the "Candy Crush" competition series. CBS Television Network did not announce the number of episodes ordered or a premiere date, though it did say the show would be broadcast on its TV network in the US and distributed internationally by Lionsgate.

Contrary to that, social gaming giant King Digital Entertainment has seen the departure of its chief legal officer and company secretary Robert Miller for virtual reality start-up Improbable.

Miller joined the mobile games developer, best known for its Candy Crush Saga game, in 2012, when the company grew from three European offices to 10 and expanded from 150 employees to more than 2,000.

Aside from that, CNET reports that "Candy Crush Saga" topped as the most popular downloadable content in Google Play. The search giant's online store officially released the most popular games during its 5th anniversary.

"Candy Crush" TV series is set to begin airing on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 9:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. PT first and exclusive on CBS Television Network.

"Candy Crush" is created by UK tech firm King Digital. It is a puzzle game in which players match identical candies. King Digital was bought in 2015 for $5.9 billion by gaming giant Activision.

Matt Kunitz, Peter Levin, Russell Binder, Nicki Sheard, VP Brand at King, and Sebastian Knutsson are executive producers for Pulse Creative in association with Lionsgate Television, King Ltd. and CBS Television Studios. Knutsson is King's Chief Creative Officer and is one of the founders of the company. He created "Candy Crush Saga."
