Charlize Theron Compares Press Coverage to Rape: Critics Demand an Apology
It's no secret that there is an ongoing battle between celebrities and the paparazzi.
At this point, practically every celebrity has gone on a tirade expressing their extreme hatred towards the infamous "paps" and their lack of decorum and professionalism in trying to get a juicy story about a celebrity into the gossip blogs.
The paparazzi is undeniably intrusive when it comes to the lives of Hollywood celebs, and according to 38-year-old actress Chalrize Theron, the paps' invasion of privacy feels like rape.
Yikes!
During the promotional tour for her new film, "A Million Ways to Die in the West," Theron told Sky News that she doesn't Google herself because she feels like she's being raped when she does.
"I don't do that, so that's my saving grace. When you start living in that world, and doing that, you start, I guess, feeling raped."
She added, "Some people might relish all that stuff. But there are certain things in my life that I think of as very sacred, and I am very protective over them."
Theron explained that just because she is a celebrity, the media and the paparazzi do not have the right to invade her personal life, and she tries her best to avoid the media at all costs.
"My job has made my life incredibly blessed and good, and I am very grateful for that. But it does not mean that every aspect of my life all of a sudden becomes fodder for an article," she told Sky News. "I try to protect against that as much as I can."
Since Theron's rape comment, ABC News reported, that critics are demanding an apology from the actress and claiming that she took it too far in comparing the media in her private life to rape.
So far, Theron has yet to comment on her statement or issue an apology.
