2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: Convertible Coupe With Expanded Programming, 60-mph Speed
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is an eye-popping sweet- handling GMA Alpha platform with a serious speed of 650 horsepower with 650 lb-ft of supercharged 6.2 liter LT4 V-8. It incorporates 11 heat exchangers to avoid various fluids from overheating and a magnetic suspension, summer tires, and electronically locking limited-slip.
According to Motor Trend, the senior features editor Jonny Lieberman finds some back roads to test the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on the real-world performance and praises the all-new optional 10-speed automatic transmission. The six-speed manual version of the Camaro ZL1 is controlled through a suede-wrapped shifter that travels throughout the gates with its precision.
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is GM's first recipient of 10-speed automatic, denoted as HydraMatic 10R90. The Chevrolet engineers use more robust clutches, planetary carriers, and output gears, as they change the use of another converter and shift-control software. The ignition has an impressive 10th-to-third -gear downshifts as it takes the throttle while cruising at the speed of 60 mph.
Moreover, Car and Drive added that the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has been known for providing a periscope-like outward view as they engineered a folding roof hardware that can be raised or lowered in 14 seconds at the speed of 30 mph. However, the folding roof hardware gobbles up some available space instead of the conventional that has limited-slip.
Engineers describe the adjustments to the magnetorheological dampers and electronically assisted steering as it expanded the bandwidth in the Tour mode. The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 uses a smaller diameter of anti-roll bars in both the front and rear back with some of the athleticism, aside from the expansion is the lighter steering still remains sharp.
Driving a 250-mile that involves divided highways and interstates is not the best roads to assess the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 chassis. However, driving in a back to back with a convertible gives some insights as for how stout the Alpha architectures is in a metal cover. While the structure of the cover is solid, it is notably flexible when it comes to the impact that is sent through the chassis.
