“Torso” Latest: Director Paul Greengrass To Helm Eliot Ness’ Film Adaptation
Many were disappointed over the return of Jason Bourne last year on big screens as it was not above the tier of intensity they've expected. The film was directed the Paul Greengrass which is now being sought to direct an upcoming movie derived from a novel. The film adaptation is going to focus on Eliot Ness' life during a period of his life.
According to IGN, Paramount and Greengrass are now on the table of negotiations to determine if they will make the "Torso" film together. The story will be drawn from Eliot Ness' hunt for the serial killer in Cleveland and will be penned by LA Confidential writer, Brian Helgeland. Ness is originally known to have been one of The Untouchables that took down Al Capone.
Meanwhile, Collider said that Paramount sees a great franchise that could start from the "Torso" and is thinking to start production this fall. Before Jason Bourne was made, Greengrass was thinking of making a 1984 film or a Jimi Hendrix biopic. The director is not really known to have made a lot of films pertaining to a crime but nonetheless, people have to give high expectations to Greengrass.
Before director Paul Greengrass came to the list, "Pete's Dragon" director David Lowery was tied up with the project and also, David Fincher was one to come up first. This makes Greengrass as the third choice for the upcoming graphic novel film adaptation. Still, fans of the novel are going to see another collaboration between Greengrass and Brian Helgeland in the "Torso" just like they did in 2010's "Green Zone." The studio didn't release any more details surrounding the film but it is interesting to think that an Eliot Ness film would be one unique film to be seen around this decade.
