'Shovel Knight' Has New Expansion To Be Released On All platforms, Including Nintendo Switch
When the much anticipated "Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment" was released earlier this month, it was considered as a timed Switch exclusive, which is just the right way to say it. According to several reports, the all new "Shovel Knight" expansion is going to be hitting other platforms as well.
According to Destructoid, Yacht Club Games has officially announced that the "Shovel Knight" Expansion will hit the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS (exclusive only in Japan), and on the PC, all on April 5, 2017. With April dates that are to be determined, the Wii U and 3DS in the west will also follow, as well as for the PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, and the Amazon Fire TV.
In other news, similar to the "Shovel Knight" expansion update, an all-new Switch update has just hit, involving a number of fixes, but it most notably allows the game to be displayed in a 1080p resolution when docked. Many console experts think that it is really interesting that so many Switch games have been given patches in order to implement basic features.
A solid example is Blaster Master Zero, which wasn't able to have Pro Controller support way until after its launch. This, compared to the "Shovel Knight" probably won't be a trend, but it's an indication of just how quickly some developers were flying by the seat of their pants when it came towards pushing out the Nintendo Switch launch software.
According to Polygon, the "Shovel Knight" expansion also has a body swap mode in the making, which switches up a player who is wearing a specific variety of suit of armor. Additionally, a four-player battle mode is also being rumored to be incorporated into the game later this year, as well as a new campaign centered on King Knight.
It seems that Yacht Club Games still remains dedicated to the cult favorite "Shovel Knight." The developer has also promised that, aside from the "Shovel Knight" expansion, the game will have other updates coming.
