Mel B released an explosive confession saying that she tried to commit suicide in 2014 just to escape her husband Stephen Belafonte's alleged physical and sexual abuse. In a revelation which was included in her divorce documents, Scary Spice narrated that she swallowed a bottle of aspirin to end her life in December 2014 right after filming the "The X Factor." But after she finished the bottle, Mel Brown regretted her decision and decided to call 999. Belafonte blocked her inside the bathroom and told her to "die b****."

This was only one of the many horrific claims that Mel B told the judge on Monday which led to a restraining order against Belafonte. Among other claims that the singer revealed were physical abuse and sexual exploitation by her ex-husband and even claims that Belafonte has made their nanny Lorraine Gilles pregnant, Mirror reported.

Brown said that she repeatedly tried to end her relationship with Belafonte only to be threatened so she won't leave him. Belafonte allegedly told Brown that he would destroy her career and her life. He also threated to take her children from her, People reported. Belafonte would secretly record these trysts and told Brown that he would release the tapes to children's services if she resisted his sexual fantasies.

Belafonte once hit Mel B in the face with a closed fist in a jealous rage. This happened after the singer joined Usher in a home visit segment for "The X Factor" in New York. Belafonte claimed that Brown flirted with the singer all day and it was her fault that she got hurt; because she wanted to flirt and seduce Usher.

Mel B's fans also got concerned when she showed up in an episode for "The X Factor" in December 2014 with visible wounds on her face and body. The singer claimed that these could not be concealed even if she wore heavy makeup. Belafonte would often tell her what to say to cover up wounds and bruises that he would inflict on her. She once got a bruise on her jaw after she was beaten by Belafonte. Brown took to social media saying that she only fell after she wore high heels.

Finally, Brown had enough when Belafonte allegedly hid her passport so she could not visit her dying father in England. Belafonte told her to just suck it up and to just accept his death. Her father died in March without the singer by his side. Mel B got an emergency passport and flew to England days after her father died. After this event, she decided to file for divorce.
