A heated exchanged of words captured on camera between a judge and attorney in a Florida courtroom erupted into a physical altercation on Monday.

Judge John Murphy is accused of punching veteran public defender Andrew Weinstock in the head after the two bickered in court. According to WFTV, the confrontation began when the judge allegedly pressured Weinstock to make his client waive his right to a speedy trial.

"I'm not waiving," Weinstock can be heard telling the judge in the video.

"You know, if I had a rock, I would throw it at you right now," Judge Murphy said. "Stop pissing me off. Just sit down!"

"You know I'm the public defender. I have a right to be here, and I have a right to stand and represent my client," Weinstock said.

The judge then asked Weinstock to come to an area that didn't have surveillance cameras in the back hallway, which is where the fight broke out.

"If you want to fight, let's go out back, and I'll just beat you're *ss," Murphy told Weinstock before the two left the courtroom.

While the brawl between Murphy and Weinstock could not be seen, the courtroom camera captured audio of the scuffle and several loud thuds. One of the men can also be heard shouting, "You want to f*ck with me?"

Weinstock's supervisor told WFTV that the attorney initially thought they would just talk out the problem, but instead he said Judge Murphy threw blows.

"The attorney said that immediately upon entering the hallway he was grabbed by the collar and began to be struck," said Blaise Trettis, public defender of the 18th Judicial Court. "There was no discussion, no talk, not even time for anything. Just as soon as they're in the hallway, the attorney was grabbed."

The fight ended when two deputies broke it. The attorney was then reassigned to another area, and Murphy went back into court to finish ruling over first appearances.

"I will catch my breath eventually," Murphy said. "Man, I'm an old man."

Trettis told FLORIDA TODAY that he doesn't believe criminal charges will be pursued against the judge.

The public defender's office, however, said the incident will be reported to the Florida Bar.
