The movie adaptation is a romantic comedy-drama directed by Josh Boone. It is based on the book of the same title, which was written back in 2012. "The Fault in Our Stars" is a funny and poignant story of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters, who both have cancer. The book tells their story of being alive and in love. Hazel Grace will be portrayed by Shailene Woodley, and Augustus will be played by Ansel Elgort. The two meet in a cancer support group, where Augustus finds Hazel Grace beautiful and decides to become friends with her. The teenagers begin to develop their relationship, and Augustus decides to grant Hazel's wish of going to Amsterdam to meet the author of "An Imperial Affliction," her favorite novel. In writing this novel, Green shows the importance of living a meaningful life, saying that a short life can still be "good and full of life."

The movie will be released June 6 in the United States, June 5 in Australia, June 19 in the United Kingdom and July 10 in the Netherlands. It was filmed in Pittsburgh and Amsterdam. It was produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey with a budget of $12 million and will run for 126 minutes.
