Drake released his new single "0 to 100/The Catch Up" on Sunday on his October's Very Own (OVO) website. Described by Hitfix as "mid-tempo," "hypnotic," and "hazy," Drake uses his new single to tell the story of how he was affected when his father left him at a young age and how the 27-year-old the Canadian rapper is just getting started with his career. The song also shows Drake is concerned with his legacy, and also reveals that he has a busy schedule planned for this spring under the OVO label.

In "0 to 100/The Catch Up," Drake talks about working harder and being smarter than anybody else. "If I ain't the greatest, I'm headed for it," says Drake in the new song. A few lines of the song also contain the message that he was strong even at a young age and describe how he used to look forward to seeing his father again.

According to Rolling Stone, Drake's in-house producers Boi-1da, Noah "40" Shebib, Nineteen85, and Noel "Detail" Fisher, produced the first half of the record. Featured on the last quarter of the album is a sample of British singer and songwriter James Blake singing. Again, Drake declares that he is going to catch up to and surpass the rappers who came before him. James Blake also remixed Drake's "Come Thru" in 2013.

Following the release of his "Draft Day" and "Days in the East" singles in April, "0 to 100" track signals that he is working on a new album. Drake reveals that the launch of his new album will be in spring 2015 in the new song's lyrics: "Listen up boy you're better off eavesdroppin'/ We already got spring 2015 poppin'/ PND droppin', OB droppin', Majid Jordan droppin', not to mention me droppin."
