Chromecast, Google's cheap HDMI streaming dongle, has been gaining support for more apps over the past few months than ever before. This week, the TV streaming device added support for WatchESPN -- and the timing for World Cup fans couldn't be better.

Google announced the addition of ESPN's streaming app on its Chrome blog on Tuesday, in a post appropriately titled "Goooooooaal!" With the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicking off next week, Google and Disney worked out a connection for ESPN's WatchESPN app to the Chromecast, meaning that if you subscribe to ESPN's networks on pay TV, you'll be able to watch all 64 World Cup games through the $35 dongle.

It also means other ESPN sports content works on Chromecast now, too. That includes live broadcast from ESPN's huge list of channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, ESPNews, and ESPN Deportes. But you have to have pay TV, because the WatchESPN app (also available on Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and modern game consoles) requires you to sign in with your cable, satellite, or fiber provider credentials.

Still, more ways to watch live fútbol during the 2014 FIFA World Cup is better than fewer. Check out WatchESPN and other Chromecast supported apps here.
