Shakira to Celebrate Latino Culture and her Birthday at Superbowl
The Columbian pop superstar and three-time award winner Shakira will be performing in the National Football League's Superbowl during its widely watched halftime show on Nov. 2 with singer and actor Jennifer Lopez, who is of Puerto Rican descent.
In a report from The Straits Times, Shakira told the reporters of Reuters in her home city in Barcelona that being at the Super Bowl is very symbolic in a way that she has a great responsibility with the Latinos around the world.
Shakira Isabell Mebarak Ripoll is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, businesswoman and a philanthrophist. She was born in Baraquilla and at the age of 13 she made her first recording debut under the Sony Music Colombia. She is known in her music that received several awards and are recognized by the Recording Industry Association in America.
Few of her musics are Oral Fixation, She Wolf, La Tortura, Hips Don't Lie, Beautiful Liar, Waka-Waka (This time for Africa), Loca, and Chantaje. She also became a coach in the iconic singing reality show of The Voice America for two seasons from 2013-2014.
Moreover, her contributions in the music industry are well-recognized by the different award-winning bodies. She received three Grammy Awards, thirteen Latin Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, and thirty-nine Latin Billboard Music Awards, and because of these she made it to have a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She sold more than 75 million records worldwide and in 2009 she was named as the Top Female Latin Artist of the Decade. She remains as the best-selling music artist and the most-streamed Latin artist in spotify. In addition, she is also of the three females in Youtube who have two billion views.
Her achievements are undeniable and that is one of the reasons why she said that she has a great responsibility with the Latinos in the world because she is the icon of the Latinos and Latinas. Not only that, many African-American and including White American love her music most specially the Waka-Waka (This time for Africa).
In a published article in the Daily Herald, she said that there is a lot to celebrate about Latin culture and to perform in National Football League's Superbowl Championship during halftime is a great opportunity. Her performance in the football league also coincides with her 43rd birthday.
The National Football League is not a small sport event for beginning players, but it is the biggest annual event on U.S. television that will be played in Miami. The halftime shows usually features some of the world's most well-known artists and performers. Last year's halftime show telecast attracted 98.2 million viewers.
Getting into the spotlight where she is right now is not an easy journey for her. It can be recalled when she said that she had struggled so much to get the Latin music in the mainstream during her career in 90's. She added that she had to go through in a lot of obstacles during her day but now she believes that things have changed because the receptivity of foreign music is easier and makes it so much easier for her also to put up music in Spanish language.
The Colombian pop Superstar told the Reuters of the build-up of her movie to be released on November 13 Shakira in Concert: El Dorado World Tour that will be streamed in more than 60 countries for a one-night screening only.
It can be remembered that in 2018, Shakira had to delay her world tour twice because she suffered from vocal chords hemorrhage but her return in the same yea is remarkable and triumphant. She said that 2018 gives her lessons of vulnerability and perseverance.
