Daddy Yankee's Museum to Highlight Reggaeton and His Personal Achievements
Daddy Yankee's museum is now open and what can the visitors expect: no other than Daddy Yankee's life and memorabilia.
Daddy Yankee, or Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez as his mother named him, has opened his museum called "El Jefe Museum" to the public, Remezcla reported. As he is celebrating 15 years of his critically acclaimed album "Barrio Fino", the museum offers a glimpse of his personal life, history made, records sold and reggaeton story. There are also throwback photos for fans.
Once inside, there are different attractions to marvel at. According to the Rolling Stones, the museum occupies a whopping 8,000 square feet. They can see the outfits from his music videos "Gasolina" and "Despacito" and the long list of awards he received from Latin Grammys, Guinness World Records and ASCAP.
For Daddy Yankee, it is all about making things possible for others. "Doors were closed, [so] we created others," he added. He also pays tribute to his baseball coach who was tragically shot dead when he was six years old. Inside the museum, a replica of Juan Cintrón de Santiago Iglesias Baseball Park can be found.
The Puerto Rican rapper's real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez. He initially wanted to become a professional baseball player but he was shot in the hip when he was 27 years old, so his focus turned to making music his career. He married Mireddys Gonzalez and they have three children: Yamilette, Jessealy and Jeremy
Because of his achievements and contribution to Reggaeton music, the TIME magazine included him the list of the 100 most influential people. Daddy Yankee also had partnerships with Reebok and Pepsi. Eventually, he also dipped his feet in producing movies such as "Talento de Barrio". In a report by The Famous People, the rapper credits Vico C, DJ Playero, DJ Nelson and DJ Drako as his influences.
In 2013, he received the Best Latino Artist in MTV Video Music Awards. Overall, Daddy Yankee has 120 awards under his name from nominations around the world. "Despacito" is easily his most popular song because it made him known globally. It became number one in "Billboard Hot 100", a feat only achieved by "Macarena" in 1996.
Not many knows that Daddy Yankee actually have 10 Guinness World Records titles to his name. According to Billboard, here are some of his achievements. Most of them are because of his work in "Despacito": Most viewed video online, Most viewed music video online, Most viewed music video on YouTube (duet), Most weeks at No. 1 in the USA (single), Most liked video online, First YouTube video to receive 5 billion views and Most streamed track worldwide.
His net worth is estimated at $30 million. He lives in Carolina, Puerto Rico and owns fancy cars such as Range Rover and Porsche which could cost at least $1.5 million in total. A report says that a big part of his wealth comes from ticket sales and sold albums. The professional singer also has business ventures worth around $12.7 million.
The success of Daddy Yankee is not stopping anytime soon. Fans could wait for his other surprise releases in the future. For now, they can enjoy going to his museum in Plaza Las Américas.
