Company Owned by Pablo Escobar’s Brother Releases a Foldable Smartphone

In the dawn of the new digital age, anything is possible: from the evolution of phones to full-screen, smart, and now, foldable. And the newest addition to the era of foldable smartphone comes from a very unlikely source: Pablo Escobar, or to be exact, his brother.

Pablo Escobar Fold 1 is a product of Escobar Inc., which is a private investment holding company founded by Roberto De Jesús Escobar Gaviria or simply Roberto Escobar dedicated to preserve the legacy of his brother, Pablo Escobar.

Roberto Escobar who was the accountant and co-founder of the Medellin Cartel, was arrested in 1992 for his participation in the organization's elicit activities, and was released in 2004 due to exemplifying good behavior.

According to a feature article by Yanko Design, Pablo Escobar Fold 1 is a surreal folding smartphone with an outward screen created on the lines of the Huawei Mate X. Designed to last longer and offers more security than traditional smartphones, it is built with an internal memory of 512Gb, and a price tag starting at just $349, which is way cheaper than other foldable smartphones in the market.

Designed with a golden-colored body, which makes sense because of Escobar's history, the foldable smartphone runs on Android, features a single folding AMOLED display, comes with a 4,000 mAh and with a 16MP and 20MP dual-camera on its inner bezel. Aside from that, the phone also comes with a dual-sim setup, and features a fingerprint sensor.

Since it wants to achieve maximum durability and foldability, the PE Fold 1 uses a specialized plastic that Roberto Escobar claims is very difficult to break. According to Yanko Design, this feature makes the PE Fold 1 much stronger than the other folding phones in the market. Escobar also assures that the phone runs is secure to use without any personal data being sold to any government. Not surprising, for someone who has a history of living outside the boundaries of a conventional society, and even the law.

Escobar also claims the PE Fold 1 as a counter mechanism to Apple's highly-priced phones which he said steals from its uses to gain massive profit. This also prompted him to file a $30 billion class-action lawsuit against the company for scamming its users by taking their data.

Escobar Inc. is indeed known for its bizarre initiatives. In July 11, 2019 they launched the Escobar Inc. However, it is currently in a dispute with Elon Musk over proprietary technology.

Aside from that, the same company launched the IMPEACH TRUMP FUND, a fundraising effort to remove U.S. President Donald Trump from office, with a $50 million goal on GoFundMe. After raising $10 million in 10 hours, it was shut down and censored.
