Disney is no stranger when it comes to re-making their Disney classics as live-action films.

So far, to much success, Disney has created live action versions of "The Wizard of Oz," "Alice in Wonderland," and now the highly successful "Malificent" starring Angelina Jolie.

Within its first week of opening, "Malificent" earned $170 million worldwide.

In addition to "Cinderella" and the "Jungle Book," set to open in the future, Disney has added another film to its series of live-action cinema: "Beauty and the Beast."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Twilight" director Bill Condon is on board to direct Disney's live-action version of "Beauty and the Beast."

According to Variety, the movie's screenwriter will be Evan Spiliotopoulus and Mandeville films on board for the film's production.

Disney's animated version of "Beauty and the Beast" first hit the big screen in 1991 and grossed $375 million worldwide. The film was so successful that it also led to a successful run of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway.

"Beauty and the Beast" also became one of the few animated films to ever be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

So, with of the accomplishments already linked to the animated version, fans can look forward to a spectacular live-action film. After all, we are talking about Disney.

The film's director, Bill Condon, also has quite a few accomplishments under his belt.

Condon is best known for directing and writing the hit films "Gods and Monsters," "Chicago," "Kinsey," "Dreamgirls" and the two final installments of the Twilight series, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2."

In 1998, Condon won his first Academy Award for writing "Gods and Monsters." He was also nominated for writing "Chicago" in 2003, and in 2006, Condon won a Golden Globe for his film "Dreamgirls," which he also wrote.

So far, there has been no word yet on when the movie will start production or when it will debut.
