Salma Hayek Opens Up About Her Attempt to Get Lip Fillers for A Movie Role

Hollywood actress Salma Hayek would do anything for a movie role, or so she thought.

According to an article published in MSN, the Mexican-American actress shared her experience of trying to enhance her lips with fillers as she plays the role of cosmetics mogul Claire Luna in her newest on-screen project Like a Boss, an upcoming American comedy film directed by Miguel Arteta and written by Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly.

"At first, the part was a very straightforward, ambitious businesswoman," Salma said in an interview. "It was fun to work with Miguel and the writers to create an actually crazy character."

Salma's character required her to have her hair dyed with red, garb in extravagant clothes and even wear gray eye contact lens. However, the actress wanted to go even further for the role.

The 53-year old Mexican-American actress revealed, she wanted to do Botox and inject her lips at first, something she has never done before, but after realizing this procedure couldn't be reversed, the actress decided to do lip fillers. Although once again, she couldn't go through with it.

"My friend [dermatologist] Dr. [Maurice] Dray said, 'I don't know if you're going to be happy because it's going to hurt super bad.' I said, 'Well, let's give it a try,'" she said. "He put the first needle in my mouth, and I immediately said, 'No! Forget it! I'm done!'"

From the sounds of it, cosmetic enhancement won't be happening anytime soon for the actress as she eventually decided to simply use fake teeth to alter her look.

Salma shared how her mother always demonstrated the importance of being able to age gracefully.

"I never saw her or my grandmother being afraid of getting old. And so I don't have that fear," she added.

Salma recently posted on Instagram her bikini birthday snaps, evidence that the actress is indeed aging gracefully.

Salma Hayek is known to play many roles in Hollywood movies but her breakthrough role was playing the role of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in the 2002 film Frida, which she also produced. Because of this, she received Best Actress nominations from premiere award giving bodies like the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award. Frida received widespread attention and was high-acclaimed by movie critics.

In Like a Boss, Salma stars with Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Coolidge, Billy Porter. The film will be released by Paramount Pictures on January 10, 2020.

The movie is about two female friends, played by Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne, who decide to start a beauty company together. While one is more practical, the other wants to earn her fortune and pursue a lavish lifestyle. Things take a turn for the worse when Salma's character, their benefactor, starts stealing from them.

It seems like 2020 is a great year for the Mexican-America actress as she will also be starring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie The Eternals alongside Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani and other big Hollywood stars, according to Daily Mail.

The superhero movie, is said to be scheduled for release on November 2020.
