Greta Thunberg, a Swedish schoolgirl, is the youngest climate change and environmental activist and she has inspired the youth globally. She has now been named as TIME's Person of the Year for 2019.

The recognition of TIME magazine to Greta Thunberg can have a big impact on Greta's campaign towards climate change and her pursuit to protect the environment. Greta became popular after she decided to skip classes every Friday and have a protest outside the Swedish parliament building last year.

In the previous report of Latin Post, it can be recalled that President Jair Bolsonaro called Greta a "Brat" and a few moments later Greta changer her bio profile in her social media account as "Pirralha" a Portuguese word which means a little brat in English.

Her efforts to fight politicians who are not doing anything for the environment or the sarcastic moves and actions of the politicians to combat climate change has been the foundation of Greta's advocacy. Her recognition as the TIME Magazine's Person of the Year 2019 made her be the youngest person chosen to have this award since it began in 1927. Charles Lindbergh was the first ever.

In a published article in BBC News, her name began to become the voice of the youth after she caught the attention of the many climate changes and environment activists in her #FridaysForFuture. Since then, she was joined by millions of students and youth across the globe.

During the United Nations Climate Conference in New York in September, she blasted politicians for balming the youth, and at the same time the future, of the world by combating climate change. She said: "You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. We'll be watching you," this has since became one of the most famous lines used in climate change protest.

Greta Thunberg said that she is honored to have the recognition and this is not only for her but also for those who her in her #FridaysForFuture advocacy. Meanwhile, not everyone received the message of Thunberg especially the conservatives like President Jair Bolsonaro who once called her as a "Brat" before her appearance in Madrid. This was after Thunberg expressed her concern about the killing of Indigenous Brazilians in Amazon.

Greta Thunberg also became viral and famous because of her appearance in Trump's press conference and Russian President Vladimir Putin who once called her a kind but poorly misinformed teenager. The editor-in-chief of TIME magazine said that "She became the biggest voice on the biggest issue facing the planet this year, coming from essentially nowhere to lead a worldwide movement."

This is the reason why she was chosen as the Person of the Year of Time magazine. It has been the tradition of the magazine to honor persons who influenced the globe in the preceding year. It started with the Man of the Year. Last year, Time magazine recognized the murdered and imprisoned journalists calling them as The Guardians.

Greta Thunberg made a big impact in Madrid where she accused world powers in making constant attempts to negotiate loopholes and avoid raising their ambition. She said: "The real danger is when politicians and CEOs are making it look like real action is happening when, in fact, almost nothing is being done apart from clever accounting and creative PR."

This drew the attention of everyone and made people to applause in her speech. She also said that in just three weeks the world will be entering a new decade that will define the future but right now she cannot see any signs of hope.
