Aslyum Seekers Denied, Must Return to Dangerous Homes
According to the Pew Research Center, there is a minimum of 40 million people that came from other countries are now living in the United States of America. The number makes up a fifth of the total population of immigrants in the world in the year 2017. Regardless of this number, some are still denied asylum in the country and are left with no choice but to return to their war-stricken or chaotic home country.
A couple from Honduras was denied asylum in the United States after a judge had rejected their application. The strict implementation of immigration policies in the United States, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, has contributed to the difficulties of migrants seeking asylum in the country as the president is ensuring proper processing of individuals.
In August, officials in charge of immigration in the US had accompanied the couple to an airline with multiple immigrants who were also rejected by the US. The plane will be bringing them back to their home country.
In Honduras, gangs are taking control over Rivera Hernandez. Rivera Hernandez is a place in the country that even the police force are scared of entering.
Every business in Rivera Hernandez is asked by gangs to pay a "war tax." War tax is collected by gangs which range from a few dollars every week for small companies to thousands of dollars every month for bigger businesses.
Those who don't pay are shot in the day time. Some of the daughters of business owners are kidnapped, raped, tortured, and killed. The gang in the area wants people to know of these stories to instill fear. The gangs believe that they can earn money through fear.
Before the couple went to the United States to seek asylum, they were the owners of a small grocery shop approximate to the intersection to Rivera Hernandez. After a few months of their operations, they were asked by gangs to pay war tax. The amount that they were asked to pay had been increasing until they were not capable of paying the amount they were asked to pay. They feared for their lives. Flying to the United States was the thing that they can think of to keep them safe.
They are now back in the place where their lives are put to risk after being deported from the United States.
A member of a gang in the area asked why they had left and was asking why they had left their business.
The couple had planned to work in the United States of America until they have enough money to build a house and a new business in their home country and away from the neighborhood of violent gangs.
Most of those who are seeking asylum in the United States of America is being denied through the stricter rules of the immigration laws under the Trump administration. Immigrants were even claiming that seeking asylum in the United States is impossible.
There are agreements attained by the United States with Central American nations in sending asylum seekers in countries such as El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.
Lots of them are being deported to dangerous areas. Some are being brought back to the dangerous places where their lives are being threatened.
