Mara Gómez: First Trans Player in Argentine FA Tournament
A transgender will be joining a well-reputed soccer team in the country of Argentina. She is reported to have signed a contract with Villa San Carlos.
In the official Argentine FA tournament, Mara Gómez will be making a milestone for the transgender community and in the country as the first transgender to join the tournament.
Mara Gómez had been playing the sport soccer for seven years. Just like the experts of any sport, everyone started as a rookie with no experience in the sport and with only the strong will to learn and master the sport. She is no exception to this. She also started her soccer career as a newbie with no experience. In the past, it never crossed her mind that she will become a soccer player with many opportunities.
After turning 22 years old, Mara Gómez was invited to be part of the team of Villa San Carlos. She is the first transgender to be part of the Argentinian's top league for women.
Mara was in a stage of discovering her true identity and sexuality when she was at the age of fifteen. It was one of the difficult stages in her life as of the present. During her time of transition, she encountered bullies and the feeling of exclusion. During that time, she did not see that she will have a future. Things went around when she went back to La Plata and discovered that the women in the area had started a cancha. She was invited by the residents to play.
She was a former player for Toronto City. She told reporters that football has helped her change her perspective on her sexuality and personality. It was a time of distraction for her. She had been well-accepted by all of the clubs she played for. She said that all of her teammates did their best for the team. She also shared that she never felt outside of any squads or groups in the team.
She was dubbed the team's highest scorer. She also earned the title of league champion twice.
Villa San Carlos is looking forward to a winning match. It has not won any match since its loss from nine games. It is part of the bottom ranking in the Argentinian league with only a point after a draw of 2-2 with their opponent Social Atletico Television on December 8, 2019.
Their coming match on February 9, 2020, will be an opportunity for them to face the Boca Juniors.
According to Mara Gómez, her past heartaches in the past had helped her to what she is now today. The sport was like therapy for her. She started to give more time to the sport. When she was 18 years old, a lot had changed and she had transitioned. She applied to play for Toronto City and she was lucky to be accepted. She joined multiple teams until she was accepted to join the Malvinas. It was the last team she joins before her recent acceptance in Villa San Carlos. In Malvinas, she was dubbed as a league champion twice.
