The Sandy beaches of the Caribbean and Pacific coasts to its Andes Mountains and Amazon forests are just a few of the places in Colombia that every traveler must visit this 2020.
Colombia has tourist destinations that are greatly rooted in its history. The different structures in the country also reflect the culture of its indigenous people and as well as the Spanish who began settling since the 15th century.
However, beyond the beautiful and historical tourist attractions that the country has, Colombia was included in the map as a safe place to visit around a couple of decades ago. But, the Colombian government is doing everything to change the image of the country and make it a safe place to visit.

1. Popayan
Popayan is located in the southwestern part of the country and this is sometimes called the "Ciudad Blanca" or White City because most of its buildings and structures are in chalk-white. This is one of the most impressive cities in the country.

2. Medellin
Medellin was once considered one of the most dangerous cities in the world between 1980 and 1990 because of its famous drug Cartel. However, the image of the city started to change when Pablo Escobar, a Colombian drug lord who led the Medellin drug cartel, was caught and imprisoned in 1993.
At present, there is a spiking number of tourists in the city because of its attractive climate that every traveler is looking for. The city is one of the best places to visit in the world at any time of the year because of its temperature averages 24 degrees celsius. The city also its most beautiful flowers and they even celebrate the flower festival every August 12.
3. San Andres y Providencia
San Andres and Providencia are two island groups that are located near Nicaragua than in Colombia. San Andres is the largest island and the same time the capital while Providencia Island was initially occupied by English Puritans this became their place for slave labor on their plantations.
Meanwhile, San Andres is the best place to visit because it has white sand beaches and palm trees. This is also a great place to snorkel with because the Carribean has is colored seven shades of blue and it has abundant marine life. Most of all, the accommodations in this place is not as expensive compared to other places in the Carribean islands.
4. San Agustin
This town is surrounded by awesome landscapes and remains of its civilization. One of the reasons why you have to visit this place because it has an archaeological park that has more than 500 monoliths, statues, petroglyphs, and sarcophagi.
It has also been said that most of its stone carvings were created between 100 A.D. and 1200 A.D. and this includes human figures, smiling and sneering monsters and as well as animals like snakes, birds, and jaguars.The pre-Incan culture who built these are still surrounded with great mystery and no one knows their actual name.
5. Zona Cafetera
Most of the country's coffee crop is grown in slopes of Andes and travelers who love their java will surely love to visit Zona Cafetera. Here, visitors will learn more about coffee at El Parque del Cafe, this is a park that has a botanical garden with coffee plants and an amusement park. The place also features a gold-museum and the tower at the Catedral de Manizalesoffers stunning views of the main cities in the region.
