In a startling turn of events, award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey has expressed his willingness to come back for more of HBO's "True Detective." Sadly enough for Matthew McConaughey fans, his return still seems improbable. The lack of commitment was evident when Woody Harrelson and McConaughey first agreed to do the series with HBO.

The agreement was to do one season with eight episodes and that was it. McConaughey said that he would not hesitate to be a part of Season 2 or 3 if he was offered to do them by HBO. It seems the actor's perception changed after hearing all the rave reviews of "True Detective" Season 1. McConaughey admitted that he was fond of the entire process of working on "True Detective"; he loved the camaraderie and the experience of being part of the series.

"I'd be open to doing another one now," the actor declared. He said that six months is the maximum length of time that he had in mind for "True Detective", and if ratings remained high, he said that he would be more than willing to do another three years of the series.

The return of Rust Cohle for Season 2 of "True Detective" has not been confirmed yet. The likelihood of McConaughey returning to the series is also unknown. Season 1 of HBO's "True Detective," starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, was a horror series that took everyone by surprise with its storylines, discourse and splendid performances.

The idea was not actually new as far as the anthology series is concerned. However, "True Detective" set itself apart by having two big actors play the lead roles in the TV series. What made it even more exciting was that the two actors were also writers and directors of the show. "True Detective" captivated audiences with its eight episode run and now the second season has large shoes to fill.
