President Donald Trump may soon be finished with his impeachment trial. This resulted from senators deciding not to call any witnesses or the entry of additional evidence.

Before the total votes were made, the Democrats prayed that four Republicans would support the call for witnesses. This would provide an opportunity to extend Trump's trial period and present new, unheard testimony and documentation.

After the votes were made, Democrats attained only two votes from Republicans.

The votes are now shifting to determine whether or not to acquit Trump in this impeachment trial.

Trump's Relief From Impeachment Trial and Its Effect on the 2020 US Election

According to an article by the BBC, the statement released by Mr. Bolton and his connection with the issue with Ukraine had relevantly affected the strength of the case placed by the lawyers of President Donald Trump during the trial.

President Trump is being accused of two charges. First, the abuse of power which resulted from the Democrats accusing the President of persuading Ukraine to sabotage Biden's political image. Lastly, the obstruction of Congress where Dems claim that he intently caused obstruction to his impeachment investigation. Both are exrtemely flimsy accusations, and don't look to hold up well in the Senate.

The final vote that will determine Trump's fate, will be made on February 5.

What to Expect in the Coming Days?

The senate will be deciding the fate of Donald Trump through a bi-partisan vote.

According to Chuck Schumer, Senate minority leader of the Democratic Party, the total votes on Friday would be four on Democratic Amendments. This will then be followed by arguments to close the trial on Monday. He said that different declamations will be given by multiple senators starting from Monday to Wednesday. A final vote will be made on Wednesday. It is the same day Donald Trump will be giving his State of the Union address.

Mr. Bolton's Testimony

Seniors of the Republican Party supporting President Trump have been pushing since the start for a fast trial with the insufficiency of witnesses and additional evidence. Primarily, Republicans feel as if Democratss had their chance in the House to provide a sound case againt Trump, which they failed to do. Now Dems want to call new witnesses, such as former Adviser of National Security John Bolton, which the GOP are refusing to do. According to some Republicans, the Democrats failed to do their job in the House, and now want Republicans to help them fix their problem.

In the previous week, the competition of showing witnesses had been intense between the Democratic Party and the GOP. The situation heightened when Mr. Bolton gave a statement that supported the president's significant connection with the Ukraine military aid controversy.

According to a report from the New York Times, in his upcoming book, Mr. Bolton said that President Trump had directly ordered him to not release the military assistance coming from Ukraine. The exchange for the deed would be sharing controversial knowledge about Joe Biden, another presidential candidate. Only to later be disproven when a video clip of Mr. Bolton surfaced where he was recorded saying the exact opposite of what his book alleges.
