Nintendo Rumored to Unveil Mario Maker at E3; What Should We Expect?
Soon you may be in control of the world of Mario.
Rumor has it that Nintendo is going to announce Mario Maker at E3 2014.
Nintendo Enthusiast released an image of a game that uses characters from the original Super Mario Bros. It seems like it's supposed to be controlled by a stylus and it appears to let players create their own Mario-style level. It's not clear what platform the game is for.
The picture featured also shows banners for Animal Crossing's Villager, Kirby and Pikachu.
Nintendo will host a 90-minute event next week on June 10.
This year, the video game company won't be holding a traditional presentation on June 10.
"We demonstrated last year that we are never afraid to reinvent a proven tactic or to break completely new ground if we believe it will provide the best experience for our fans, followers and partners," said Reggie Fils-Aime. "So, whether you're attending E3 in person or joining online, there's an amazing lineup of games, experiences and events coming your way."
Polygon tried to reach out to Nintendo on the rumors of the new game, but there are no answers from the company. Nintendo will broadcast a Nintendo Direct presentation, and it is merely four days away, so the rumors will soon be addressed.
Something that will be missing from Nintendo's E3 presentation is President Satoru Iwata.
He has been advised by his doctors to not fly.
"He's been instructed by his physician not to travel overseas in the immediate future, and so he will not be making the trip to Los Angeles," said Cindy Gordon, Nintendo VP of corporate affairs. "Please understand that it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., LTd. while he remains in Japan. As always, he will be actively involved in all of Nintendo's activities at the show."
