Cocaine Hippos: New Netflix Comedy Based On Pablo Escobar's Zoo Animals
A new film series will be released on Netflix about Pablo Escobar, but this time there will be a twist. This is a comedy movie that will delve into Pablo Escobar's zoo animals, specifically the hippos.
The movie is set to be titled Cocaine Hippos, will follow a group of friends who take a trip to find the lost treasure of Pablo Escobar. Their journey in looking for the lost treasure is not easy, during their trip they meet drug lords, narcos and eventually the hippos which were believed to have been smuggled by Escobar in the 1980s from Africa.
Aside from the four deadly hippos, Escobar owned other exotic animals in his private zoo. He was once one of the richest men in the world due to his cartel and he is known everywhere because of myths revolving around his name and the fact that he always got what he wanted.
In his private zoo, he had a group of animals like giraffes, zebras, elephants, and hippos. It is believed that these animals all came from Africa. However, when he was killed in the early 1990s, the Colombian government seized the animals in the zoo except for the hippos because they were more likely aggressive and dangerous. When the hippos were left in the zoo, their numbers surged and increased over the years. It was even reported in Latin Post that Escobar's hippos are destroying the Colombian Ecosystem.
Netflix is known for its compelling documentary series like "Narcos" and "Narcos: Mexico Season 2" which were both praised by viewers around the world. However, this time this is not only about how Pablo Escobar became a drug lord, but more about the tale of his hippos.
The Hollywood Reporter published in its report that Netflix has already taken the comedy film, but there is no exact date yet as when it will be released. The film was written by Jordan VanDina who also worked on Hulu's 2020 reboot of Animaniacs. In his twitter account, VanDina wrote: "Hey!!! I wrote an insane movie about hippos and cocaine!!!! What a time to be alive!!"
VanDina later added in a post that if his only legacy in Hollywood is writing a movie called "Cocaine Hippos" before retires back to Ronkonkoma, Long Island then he is fine with it. Moreover, Jermaine Fowler, a well-known comedian and actor, will star in the movie. Fowler will also produce the movie along with Matt Skiena and Adam Goodman. It can be recalled that Goodman had worked before with Fowler when he was the president of Paramount's Motion Picture.
Though there is no exact date as to when the comedy film will have its premiere on Netflix, many have expressed their excitement about the movie. One netizen tweeted: "This sounds amazing. I'm in!" and another one tweeted, "100% adding to my watchlist!!!"
Netflix has already become the home of movies that talk about drug cartels and cocaine. The best way to go about this is before watching "Cocaine Hippos," watch "Narcos" and "Narcos: Mexico Season 2" first.
