Chiquis Rivera Confirmed as Telemundo 'Miss Latina Universo' Beauty Pageant Judge: 'Paloma Blanca' Singer Promises to Honor Late Mother Jenni Rivera
Chiquis Rivera is stepping into the beauty pageant world.
As this possibility became public in late May, Rivera herself has taken to social media to confirm the news.
"I am so happy and appreciative of God and all of you. Being part of a program like @latinauniverso is a dream come true! I've always liked everything that has to do with beauty, but something that my uncle @juanriveramusic taught me as a young girl is that inner beauty is the most important" she said on Facebook. "And my goal is to guide these beautiful Latinas to understand that and that being Latina is something to be proud of from deep within! I hope to represent my mother and all the Latinas in the United States properly. I love you!!!"
Joining Rivera as judges are Bárbara Palacios, Javier Poty Castillo and Armando Correa. The show will begin on June 15 at 8 p.m. on Telemundo.
Rivera has been moving forward with her career lately. On top of this job, she's also been working on her music career. She's even been nominated for a few Premios Juventud Awards.
Now, Rivera's uncle, Lupillo Rivera, who has not always been her biggest supporter, is fully behind the star.
"Waiting to vote for my niece? For premios juventud! Today is the last day," he said to his followers.
It's also rumored that he's preparing to collaborate with his niece. He teased the possiblity, saying "We'll see ... we'll see what happens down the road."
Rivera and her siblings recently posed for the cover of People en Español in honor of their mother, Jenni Rivera, and her July birthday. Rivera surprised her fans with the image on Friday.
"Surprise!!! Happy birthday Momma!!!! ...So the whole world knows, if they don't already know ... that we have the best mother in the world!!!!" she said.
