Manny Pacquiao Plans a Return in July and Knows Who He Wants to Fight
The 'People's Champ' and fighting senator Manny Pacquiao plans to return to the boxing ring for another match after less than a year.
It's been less than a year since Manny Pacquaio's last fight in the ring. It was in July of last year when he fought and defeated Keith Thurman for the WBA Super Welterweight Title.
Despite the age of Manny Pacquiao, it seems that he is not showing any signs of slowing down. He is still one of the best boxers in the world and commended in his skill in the sport dut to the speed and power of his punches as well as a style that is very distinct to the 41-year-old boxing champ.
In an interview with national news TV in the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao said: "My plan is to get back into the ring this coming July."
He also added that his training should start in April and last through out June. This means that the boxing champ will have plenty of time to prepare for his fight in July of this year.
When asked about who will be his possible match, he mentioned several names that included Mikey Garcia, Errol Spence, Terrence Crawford and he also mentioned that there are boxers from Canada and Mexico who want to fight him as well.
Moreover, among the names he mentioned as his possible boxing foe, Errol Spence and Mikey Garcia are his top two choices.
It seems that Manny Pacquiao wants to fight either one of the two boxers because he shared during the interview his assessment about the boxing skill of the two fighters.
He said that if he will fight Errol Spence, he needs to focus on strategy, hand speed, and footwork because Spence is the kind of a boxer who can move and slug.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao's assessment of Garcia is different from Spence. He said that Garcia is a brawler and aggressive with different techniques. Pacquiao said that if he will fight Garcia, he needs to show the same.
Moreover, Garcia and Spence have both commendable records in boxing. Garcia just defeated Jessie Vargas through a unanimous decision when he knocked down Vargas in the fifth round. While Spence is the present IBF Champion and is now back on training after recovering from a car crash.
This will be an exciting fight for Manny Pacquiao and also for his fans who have not seen him in the ring for nearly a year already. Pacquiao is regarded by boxing historians as one of the greatest professional boxers in history who started his career in 1995.
He is also the only boxer who won 12 major titles in eight divisions and was named as the fighter of the decade in 2000 by the WBC, WBO, and Boxing Writers Association of America and a three-time Ring Magazine and BWAA Fighter of the year.
Pacquiao's achievement in boxing has seen very significant in boxing history. He also helped to change the pace of boxing when he started to win different boxing titles. At present, Manny Pacquiao is not just a boxer but he also owns a National Basketball League in the Philippines and a Senator in the country.
