Mark Adams, a representative from the International Olympics Committee (IOC), said on Tuesday that the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo will proceed despite coronavirus outbreak.

The presence of the coronavirus outbreak in almost all parts of the world will not delay the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. It will proceed as planned on July 24 this year.

Mark Adams told a news outlet on Tuesday that "the Games are going ahead on the 24th of July, and we completely expect to deliver them on that date," He also added that all advise that they can go ahead with the game is from World Health Organization and other organizations as well.

According to a report published in Breitbart, the opening of the game that will be held on March 12 in Greece will proceed and there will also be no changes of schedule as what Mark Adams said.

However, many people are quite worried about the announcement of IOC. A professor from Stanford University Yvonne Maldonado, who is also an infectious disease specialist, said, "You bring a lot of people together, and then you ship them back all over the world: That's the perfect way to transmit. If you really want to disseminate a disease, that would be the way to do it."

It was also found out that at least one member of the IOC opposed to push through the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Dick Pound shared in a news outlet that he told the IOC to reschedule the event at the end week of May.

During the interview, he also said that it is expected that during the game many people will be asking about the sufficiency of going to Tokyo amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

Even though the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is still months ahead, it was reported recently that gymnasts from Russia canceled their trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for their upcoming World Cup Contest over the fear of coronavirus outbreak.

The coach of the team said that he himself is afraid to expose the athletes in an enclosed environment along with the strangers that might expose them with the infectious virus.

Meanwhile, there have been many sports organizations that did some precautionary measures to control the spread of coronavirus. In the latest report of Latin Post, National Basketball Association (NBA) released a memorandum telling its players to avoid high-fives and taking items for an autograph to avoid the spread of the virus.

Moreover, other sporting events are also making other ways to control the spread of the virus. Many sports organization had canceled their games. However, Italy has a strategy on how to control the spread of the infectious virus. In their Serie A Soccer Matches, they decided that it will take place but without any audience.

Despite all of these, President of the International Olympics Committee confirmed on Wednesday that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will not be rescheduled. He also said that cancelation and postponement of the event were mentioned but the majority decided to push it through.

When Back was asked about what will be the contingency plan of the IOC if the outbreak worsens, he declined to answer and said instead that he will not add fuel to the flame of speculation.
