Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's final engagement together as senior royals wasn't without tension.

A recent article said that the royal couple were upset when they learned they wouldn't be allowed to join the entrance procession of the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the Commonwealth Day church service in London.

The two were reportedly informed of the changes in protocol from the previous year and that they were to make their way to their seats independently before the arrival of senior members.

It can be recalled that last year, Prince William and Kate and Prince Harry and Meghan loitered together, but each separately inspecting the fascinating detail of their shoes, in the entrance hall of Westminster Abbey, and then walked behind the Queen, who arrives last, to their seats.

On Monday's event, Harry and Meghan arrived first and were shown to their seats, next to Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, and after a short while, William and Kate arrived.

That's when things got awkward as the animosity between siblings was evident upon their arrival, according to a recent report.

Edward got up from his seat to greet William, while Meghan and Harry remained glued to theirs.

Harry appeared to say, "Hello," while Meghan smiled, mini-waved and mouthed a greeting at the couple. William didn't initially notice Meghan's greeting, but he reciprocated it with a brief smile and head nod. Meanwhile, Kate didn't seem to acknowledge either of them.

After the brief, awkward exchange, Meghan immediately turned to her husband to divert her attention.

The tension was more apparent when William and Kate turned in their seats to speak to Edward and Sophie, then, Edward and Sophie spoke to Harry and Meghan-but William and Kate and Harry and Meghan did not interact with each other.

Indeed, the two royal couples involved in one of the most public falling-outs of the year, for the sake of the event, couldn't even bring themselves pretend to say:

"How are you doing?"

"Yeah alright man," and smile.

The reunion comes two months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had officially shared with the public their decision to step down from royal duties.

Reports say that the Queen herself requested the couple's presence at the service, which highlights the global network of 54 countries that make up the Commonwealth.

According to an article by Latin Post, the relationship between Harry and Meghan with the royal has not been good in the past years.

But with their decision to relieve themselves from their royal duties, they may let out a well-justified scream of joy and relief.

An article revealed that after the couple had finished their last duties as part of the royal family, they will be living a non-royal type of lifestyle.

On March 31, they will officially step down as working royals and will no longer have permission to use the Sussex brand.

There had been speculations of Harry's relief from his royal duties in the past years.

Before Meghan and Harry finally decided to leave their royal duties, Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein's Scandal was the last royal family issue.

Despite their royal exit, Harry and Meghan will remain president and vice-president of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust.
