Floyd Mayweather’s Ex-Girlfriend Found Dead in Car
Josie Harris was found dead at her California home. She was the mother of three of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr's children.
Authorities discovered an unresponsive Harris in her car outside her home in a Southern California suburb just before 10 pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters who responded to the scene pronounced her dead.
Harris previously accused Mayweather of abusing her on multiple separate occasions.
In 2010, she claimed Mayweather entered in her Las Vegas home in the middle of the night. She said Floyd barged into their home and attacked her in front of their children. Harris said the boxer pulled her by her hair, and then beat her and screamed profanity at her.
He was charged with a reduced misdemeanor and served two months in jail after he pled guilty in court.
He later claimed he was only found guilty because he was "black, rich, and outspoken."
Koraun, Floyd's son, was 10 years old at the time of the attack and told authorities he witnessed his father "hitting" Harris.
She filed a defamation case against Mayweather in 2015, as well as intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress following his interview where he accused Harris of being under the influence of drugs and called his 2010 actions as "restraining a person."
The lawsuit proceeded after a California appeals court ruled against the boxer's objections in 2018.
Investigators said there was no foul play connected to her death but refused to release the cause due to a security hold on the case. The Los Angeles County Department is still actively investigating the case.
Mayweather has yet to release a comment on Harris' death.

Floyd Jr. had a tough life growing up. His senior was known for having violent tempers. Floyd Sr. was occasionally in and out of trouble as a drug dealer. Deborah, the boxer's mother, also had substance abuse issues.
He and his father had huge differences, leading to him firing his father as both manager and trainer in 2000 due to the overbearing family-dynamics.
