First Deadly Coronavirus Case in Cancun City, Mexico Reported

The mayor of Benito Juarez, a municipality located in Cancun City, announced through social media. The post was through a video recording of him announcing there is already a COVID-19 case in the state, says an article. He said in the video that there is already a positive case of the deadly virus who made it to the state through the Cancun Airport. The mayor had also requested the municipality's residents to be cautious at conducting preventive measures against the dangerous virus.

Preventing the Spread of the Deadly Virus

According to the message of the mayor, the first COVID-19 case had been identified to be at Benito Juarez in Quintana Roo. Since March 10, a prevention committee was established to enforce and implement protocols of action. The committee had worked collaboratively with the federal government and the municipal government.

To everyone who hears the message of taking preventive measures against the deadly coronavirus should also inform their family members, the mayor added.

The Simplest Preventive Measure

The simplest preventive measure against the coronavirus is the constant washing of hands with soap and water. Additionally, the mayor suggested the municipality's residents expose their clothes under the sun for a minimum of two hours. Also, the mayor asked his people to sneeze in their elbows to prevent the spread of the virus.

Furthermore, she asked the resident of Mexico's municipality, Benito Juarez, with low immune systems such as elders to avoid leaving their homes. The mayor advises everyone to prevent going to crowded areas such as medical centers. Moreover, she asked them to eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water.

She asked the public to not panic. The mayor requested everyone to only relay official information. Also, she wants everyone to know that all of the three levels of Mexico's government are working on controlling and resolving the current issue.

Tourism in Mexico

As of the moment, the country's tourism is not yet greatly affected. The mayor said travelers can still enjoy the country's majestic beaches, great weather, exceptional cuisine, and other tourist attractions. However, visitors are strictly required by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to obey hygiene requirements.

The Director of Tourism for Municipality Francisco Lopez stated that there are still no recent reports indicating the cancellation due to the dangers of the coronavirus. Lopez says the indicators are relevant because it will provide answers to what would happen for the industry.

Cancun Airport: Still in Normal Operations Mode Despite Coronavirus Pandemic

There have been numerous empty planes landing in Cancun to retrieve travelers who are unable to return to their regular flights. This conflict arises from the closing of borders by multiple European cities. Normal air functionalities at the local airport continue.

Flights originating from cities such as Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Miami, and Philadelphia had landed. The airline companies servicing these flights are the Southwest, Frontier and Spirit Airlines American Airlines, and United Airlines. Many of these airlines had recently reported income losses due to the declining trend of ticket sales on the areas where the coronavirus infection is present.
