Plans for more than 150 miles of a 30 ft border Wall in California, Arizona, and New Mexico

In the earlier parts of the week, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had released a public announcement about its plan to build more than 150 miles of a 30-foot tall US-Mexican border in California, Arizona, and New Mexico. This is an addition to the current construction project of a minimum of 15 sites across the three previously mentioned states and Texas.

Declaration of a National Emergency

The public announcement was made after President Donald Trump was declared a national emergency. This was due to the increasing criticisms about his control over the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of Friday, 19,500 positive COVID-19 cases were reported and 260 deaths were reported in the United States of America. Additionally, thousands of the workforce of the country had lost their jobs due to the large scale lockdowns that had circulated throughout the country.

COVID-19 and the Construction of the Wall

Medical professionals are requesting US citizens to stay at home. Also, the public is being advised to practice social distancing.

Despite these advises, construction workers and many sites are continuing operations. In their close quarters, workers eat and sleep.

According to the spokesperson of the CBP, the construction of the US-Mexican border is not affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Construction Continues in the Different Parts of the Country

In the different parts of the country, construction work had not postponed its operation. However, for skilled workers, contractors, and engineers for the wall's construction means a struggle for the commute as far as Montana, Maine, Texas, North Dakota, and Kentucky. Along the border, these groups of people can be seen walking, carpooling, and checking it at hotels and motels. These people eat together at restaurants. They do all these activities before traveling back to their families.
