COVID-19 pandemic has affected almost all parts of the world. With the increasing number of persons who tested positive for the virus, there is also a need for the increase in medical supplies.

One of the concerns of the medical staff or the frontliners today are protective kits like surgical masks and gloves. These are also the basic protective supplies that everyone is looking for in different stores.

To address this concern, some billionaires donated millions of dollars to do vaccine research while other billionaires donated hundreds of thousands of protective kits like surgical masks and gloves.

Here are some of the billionaires who donated to combat COVID-10:

  • He will pay the Stamford Bridge Millenium Hotel to house NHS Staff. The place is just adjacent from the Westminster Hospital.

Sheldon Adelson

  • Following the released guidelines of Pres. Trump, he decided to close his casino. However, in a statement he released, he said that there will be no layoffs and all his employees will be paid during the temporary closure.

Massimiliana Landini Aleotti

  • Together with her three children, they own one of Italy's largest pharmaceutical companies. They converted their production line to make disinfectant gels that will be distributed free of charge.

Bernard Arnault

  • He will convert his three LVMH's perfume factories to manufacture hand sanitizer. The hand sanitizers will be distributed for free to French authorities and Europe's largest hospitals.

Steve Ballmer

  • He donated $1 million to support community organizations in Los Angeles and including the county's school district.

Marc Benioff

  • He is the owner of Salesforce and TIME Magazine. In his tweet, he said that he will continue to pay hourly workers despite the temporary closure of his offices.

Gayle Benson

  • She is the owner of the New Orlean Pelicans in NBA and she announced that will continue to pay the wages of her employees who are only paid during game days for the remainder of the postponed games. She also donated $1 million that will be distributed through the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

Silvio Berlusconi

  • He gave $10.9 million to the region of Lombardy which will be used to build the new hospital in Milan.

Michael Bloomberg

  • He has launched a $40 million initiative to slow down the spread of COVID-19 in low and middle-income countries.

Bill Gates

  • He committed along with his wife to donate $100 million to aid global detection, isolation, and treatment of COVID-19 patients.


They are just few of the billionaires around the world who continue their philanthropic works amid the threat brought by COVID-19. They also have their own employees that need to manage and need to care.

Despite the global crisis that almost all parts of the world today, billionaires and businessmen are also doing their share by giving some amount that will help aid and supplement the displaced workers and individuals due to the effect brought by the virus.
