COVID-19 Pandemic: Will California Be the Next Italy?
Patients visit hospitals with fevers, suffering from breathing difficulties, chills, and shakes. Italy, the latest nation badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, had been witnessing this similar scenario since the outbreak happened in the country, says an article.
According to a doctor in Bergamo near Milan named Doctor Roberto Cosentini, it was difficult for him to see a lot of people getting sick every time. He describes the experience as similar to experiencing earthquakes regularly.
Forecasts for California
At least 3,000 COVID-19 confirmed cases had been reported in the Golden State with 67 individuals losing the battle from the deadly respiratory illness. There is still a small gap with the total records of the COVID-19 cases in Italy with 69,000 confirmed cases and 6,820 deaths.
However, some health experts believe that California can become the next Italy.
According to Doctor Scott Morrow, a health officer from the San Mateo County, the people are in crisis unless every individual does their part and obey the shelter-in-place order of the county and the Safer at Home order of the governor. Obeying these orders can help prevent California from turning into the next Italy.
According to Doctor Grant Colfax, the Department of Public Health director in San Francisco, the worst is still not yet encountered by the state. The department is already preparing for the increase in hospital visitors in the following week or two.

California's COVID-19 Cases
The first novel coronavirus infection in California was reported in the latter parts of January. Since then, cases and deaths of the COVID-19 had escalated exponentially since the start of March.
It was announced on Tuesday that there are 395 new cases of the COVID-19 in different parts of California. Also, there was 11 death reported in the state alone. Last week, it was reported that there were 158 new cases of the illness and three new deaths from the COVID-19.
The Future of California
There is no assurance for the future of California. If the residents of the state will follow the order of Governor Gavin Newsom to stay in their homes as much as they can, then the illness and more deaths can be prevented or delayed.
If an individual who is asymptomatic to the COVID-19 enters the state and spreads the disease, the single person alone can initiate a new outbreak in California.
There is a very good reason why everyone should expect the worst as it had happened in Italy.
For many weeks, the King County of Washington State and the San Francisco Bay Area were the ones that had the worst COVID-19 cases in the country. After that, the Governor of New York announced on Monday that there are already 5,707 new cases of the deadly virus in the state. The following day, there were additional 4,790 cases of the COVID-19. This brings the total COVID-19 cases in the Empire State to 25,665.
