[VIDEO] Oaxaca Aerospace to Design and Build First Military Plane in Mexico
Oaxaca Aerospace had announced to the public the first military plane designed and built in Mexico, says an article.
About the Historical Aircraft
The Pegasus P-400T is a lightweight exploration and attack aircraft says the company that designed and built it. The military aircraft is 100% original design of the company. The plane was made using the latest and state-of-the-art in-house design software. The software used was made by the company.
Powers of the New Aircraft
The new military aircraft can reach a speed of 280 miles per hour. At top speed, it can reach more than 340 miles per hour. The powerful plane is powered by a turbocharged engine. Also, it has a range of 1,400 miles and a 5-hour flight capacity.
The Cost Advantageous Aircraft
According to Oaxaca, the P-400T is cheaper and efficient compared to other aircraft. The plane will cost $3 million while the competitor's similar aircraft costs approximately $11 million. Additionally, the P-400T aircraft makes use of 57 liters of fuel an hour. Similar aircraft use as much as 189 liters of fuel every hour.

The Practical yet Stylishly Modern Design of the New Aircraft
The backseat of the plane is a little elevated behind the front seat. This design improves visibility, Also, the aircraft can be piloted on either seat.
The cockpit visibility is 240 degrees horizontal and 300 degrees vertical.
Perfect for Maritime Patrols and Recon Missions
The plane is a perfect air vehicle for maritime patrols and recon missions. The heavy-duty aircraft can be used for agile evasive maneuvers. This makes the plane ideal for light attack missions.
The agility of the military plane is assisted by a wing with a canard that allows the plane to have the capability of a greater lift at lower speeds. The Mexican government's agency for science and technology had provided funding for the design of the plane.
In the 1960s, Mexico used to manufacture planes. However, the planes they manufacture during those times were copies of aircraft models such as the Cessna.
Restarting the Mexican Aircraft Manufacturing With a Twist
The Oaxaca does not only plan to restart aircraft manufacturing in Mexico. It also plans to start a new generation of airplanes that are home-grown, Mexican-designed, and Mexican-produced.
The majority of the aircraft now are following designs made as far back as the 1950s. These aircraft are made with mild modifications such as avionic and other modern-day engines. However, the modern aircraft are not being made to be more efficient and aerodynamic, says the Oaxaca Aerospace general manager Rodrigo Fernandez.
Fernandez said that the objective of the company was to design and build an innovative aircraft. Also, the company aims to create aircraft that are unique to the already existing ones. Additionally, the company targets to use modern engineering though advanced tools and software for creating their new planes.
By 2022, the company plans to start manufacturing the aircraft. Their sales will be focused on developing nations. They are primarily considering Mexico as an aircraft manufacturer.
