Tomas Balcazar Mexican Football Legend and Grandfather of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez Passes Away
Tomas Balcazar, a Mexican International, and Chivas legend died on Sunday at the age of 88, says an article. He was a member of 'el Campeonisimo,' a legendary Chivas team at the start, and participated in the World Cup in 1954.
Later on, he was able to earn another recognition as the maternal grandfather of the famous Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez.

Chivas' Forward and Declaring Victories
In 1931, Tomas Balcazar was born in Guadalajara. Guadalajara was the city where he was able to start and build a career in football.
After an amateur football career, he was able to be part of Chivas as a professional athlete in 1948.
He was the forward of the team until he retired in 1958. As a team member of Chivas, he was able to declare victory in both a Copa MX and a league title in 1957. It was the beginning of the Chivas 'Campeonisimo' team. This had led the team to attain seven league titles from 1956 to 1965.
After retiring as a football player, he was able to land a job as the assistant coach of Campeonisimo with the legendary coach Javier de la Torre.
The 1954 World Cup and the Mexican National Team
Balcazar was able to get a position in the Mexican National Team in the World Cup held in 1954. He was an essential factor in the qualification for the event, especially the hat trick he used against Haiti.
During the World Cup, the Mexican National team would be defeated in both games. However, they will exert their best efforts against France. Mexico lost the game with a score of 3-2. However, Balcazar was able to score one of the goals for the Mexican National team.

Grandfather of Another Mexican Football Legend
Balcazar's daughter is married to another footballer named Javier Hernandez. Hernandez was also a key football player in many teams, such as the UAG, and made the World Cup in 1986. Then, their son, the grandson of Balcazar, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, would also become a Mexican football legend.
Chicharito was able to participate in the World Cup held in 2010, where he played against France. A lot of press covered the event. The media was reminding everyone how Chicharito's grandfather had scored a goal against the team of France and that his grandson may also do the same.
Chicharito was able to score and win against France with a score of 2-0. It was the first time Mexico was able to win over a team that had previously won a World Cup title. It was Hernandez's first World Cup goal.
