Pfizer Promises to Get a COVID-19 Vaccine Ready By Winter
To battle the COVID-19 pandemic, Pfizer stated that it would be readying a vaccine for emergency use by winter, says an article.
Albert Bourla, the CEO of Pfizer, announced that it would be unveiling a vaccine at the end of 2020.
According to Bourla, the world is currently under a crisis, and every nation is in desperate need of a solution.
More and More Tests
The company continues to conduct more tests to make sure that the vaccine they created is safe for COVID-19 patients.
The next results of the tests will be released in the following month.
While a lot of people and groups are eyeing a path to normalcy through a vaccine against COVID-19, experts of public health see another way that is not less overwhelming. It includes conducting millions of COVID-19 tests, at least 100,000 healthcare workers to trace and isolate for COVID-19 exposure, and the never-ending need to network data to make the efforts successful.
Detecting COVID-19 Positive Cases
According to a recent article, antibody tests are not that accurate.
Some antibody tests used to check former COVID-19 infection had shown a high rate of false positives in the study conducted by a group of laboratories in California.
A false positive refers to someone who was told to have had COVID-19 when, in reality, they have not. This poses a danger to people who might believe they are already immune to the illness but are still susceptible to the disease.
Out of the 12 antibody tests that were included in the study by a COVID-19 Testing Project, of the antibody tests revealed false positives exceeding 15 percent of the time. Three other antibody tests resulted in false-positive exceeding 10 percent of the time.
According to a co-author of the study Doctor Alexander Marson, the reliability of an antibody test to detect COVID-19 is still unsure. There is a threat to the reliance of these tests, he added.
The COVID-19 Testing Project is manned by a group of researchers and physicians at the University of California Berkeley, the University of California San Francisco, the Innovative Genomics Institute, and the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub.

Easing of Restrictions Amid COVID-19
Some states in the United States of America are already starting to ease the restrictions they imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, many plans reveal that normalcy is still far away from the country.
Some of the states have aggressive strategies to reopen businesses in Georgia. On Tuesday, the officials of Georgia had reported 1,000 deaths in the state alone.
Reopening Guidelines
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC had provided a draft of guidelines to assist businesses and organizations that are reopening. These guidelines include the closure of break rooms, the use of disposable plates and menus, and children eating their lunch in their classrooms.
