Last week, a Martina Stoessel fan claimed to cut herself after the Disney star didn't follow her on Twitter.

The fan said that if 'Violetta' star Stoessel didn't follow her she would "cut her veins," according to El Intransigente.

There was worry that other girls would follow in her footsteps after the picture was posted to social media. However, Primicias Ya has said that the picture is a fake.

"The image is from 2008 and it has to do with a cyberspace forum where people used it as a method of communication. It had nothing to do with 'Violetta.'"

The user who posted has deleted the account.

The stunt has understandably upset Stoessel's parents.

This week, when they went to see the new Cirque du Soleil show in Buenos Aires with their daughter, Stoessel's father spoke on her behalf.

"Sorry, but she's not going to respond over these things," he said. "What you need to know is that it's a lie, and you can't spread lies when there's a young audience. There's nothing to clear up."

The media wants the Disney star to clear up the rumors, but her parents believe that it needs to be ignored, so that it isn't out there.

Although her father tried to keep her away from the media, she eventually said spoke out.

"I think the photo is from 2008, and the person that posted it is not really a child," she said. "But don't spread the story anymore because it's not true. I'd rather not speak about this topic. I'm very happy that my fans follow me, and that I'm doing what's best for them."

Her mother also spoke to the press, and said that they were by their daughter's side trying to guide her. She also asked the press to stop spreading lies, especially the one that called Stoessel anorexic.
