8 Mexican Football Club Santos Laguna Players Test Positive for COVID-19
Eight players of the Mexican football club, Santos Laguna have tested positive for COVID-19 and this was confirmed by LIGA MX on Wednesday.
According to LIGA MX, all eight players are asymptomatic and they will continuously be monitored while they maintain the protocols which the Health Secretariat of the federal government has established.
In a statement it recently released, the LIGA MX said, following as an outcome of the medical studies which the Club Santos carried out this week, eight of its players had positive results from COVID-19 tests. Nevertheless, as earlier mentioned all of them are asymptomatic.
However, LIGA MX did not release the names of the infected football players. The statement explained further that the organization will constantly observe the Club Santos players' health condition.
More so, they will also closely monitor all other football players of LIGA MX, as well as the LIGA MXM Women, taking into account always, the health authorities' recommendations which all areas of every institution have also adopted.
Games Cancelled This Year
The Major League Soccer or MLS announced on Tuesday, it is canceling the MLS All-Star Game this year. Other games such as the Campeones Cup and Leagues Cup are also cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year's all-star cup was originally slated to happen at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles. And supposedly for the first time, it was supposed to feature a "matchup between the winners of both the LIGA MX and MLS."
In a statement it released, the league specified the decision was made was intended "to provide as many dates available as possible" for the MLS season's remainder. However, this has been postponed since the middle of March because of the ongoing public health crisis.

Both LIGA MX and MLS decided to cancel the annual Leagues Cup this year, with a plan to continue the competition in 2021.
The same decision was made for the Campeones Cup in which, this year is supposed to take place on August 12, and hosted by Seattle Sounders FC. Like the other games, Campeones Cup is set to return on 2021.
