Selena Gomez’s Inspiring Message to Immigrants of the Historic Batch of 2020
A lot has changed since the novel coronavirus has been discovered. Many parts of the world had transformed into a place where wearing a face mask had become a must. Also, the way people greet each other had also changed and that people are getting creative to get their lives back the way they were before the discovery of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Some of those people who will be adjusting majorly due to the coronavirus pandemic are the graduates of this year. With the risk of possibly spreading the novel coronavirus, a traditional in-person graduation ceremony is not yet a good idea at the moment. With the many coronavirus vaccine candidates still under research and trials, there is still no medical discovery to officially combat the spread of the novel coronavirus. This leaves graduating students with no choice but to seek other methods to have their graduation ceremony. However, virtual graduation ceremonies are being held to replace the in-person ones. Many celebrities had shared their messages to the graduates of this memorable batch. Selena Gomez, for example, gives a touching message to immigrant graduates.
Selena Gomez's Message
Selena Gomez had shared a message with the historic batch of graduates this year. Her speech was focused on her being a descendant of immigrants and her admiration for the hard work of immigrants in the country to get educated.
In an article, Selena Gomez shared that she was a 3rd generation Mexican-American. She felt proud to have witnessed immigrants reaching a milestone in their life. She expressed her admiration for the journey of those who had to go through a lot to get their citizenship in the country. Also, she is proud of the graduates of this batch who worked hard to get educated regardless of their immigration status.
DACA
Undocumented immigrants can work and study in the United States without fear of deportation due to the DACA program or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Program.
However, based on an article, the continuity of the program is still hanging as the Supreme Court is yet to decide whether to continue or discontinue the program that was introduced during the leadership of former U.S. president Barack Obama. It means that if the Supreme Court decides to end the program, many undocumented migrants will find it difficult to attain higher education and other opportunities.
Since the start of the program, more or less 825,000 undocumented immigrants had benefited from it. They were able to finish higher education and help strengthen the U.S. economy by joining the workforce and serving the country.

There are many ways virtual graduation can be made. For example, it can be hosted by social media platforms or other software. Microsoft has a good selection of programs for virtual graduation ceremonies. On the company's website, they can host live virtual graduation ceremonies. Also, they can host pre-recorded graduation ceremonies. What is a graduation ceremony without a graduation party after? Microsoft also offers to host virtual celebrations.
Contactless celebrations are made possible through modern technology. Without it, people will be stuck in their homes waiting for the vaccine to make it safe again for them to have an in-person graduation ceremony.
