Netflix gets a lawsuit filed against them for wrongfully portraying a private company that handles the operations of some prisons and detention centers in the United States.

According to an article, Netflix had used the logo of Geo Group in their TV show called 'Messiah.' The article reported that the show had used the logo of the private firm while portraying a negative message regarding the conditions of immigrants placed in detention centers. Furthermore, the immigrant in the show was placed in an overcrowded prison and was made to sleep on the floor had made the actual operations of the Geo Group look unpleasant.

Based on an article, the private company had been portrayed unpleasantly in two episodes of the Netflix show Messiah.

The Lawsuit Filed Against Netflix

Netflix is being sued by the private firm for trademark violations and offensive expressions of their company's operations.

According to an article, the lawsuit states that the detention facilities operated by the Geo Group are not similar to how Netflix had portrayed the prisons they operate. The article states that the claims of the Geo Group expressed that they provide good facilities for detainees. They stated that they have beds ready for detainees. Furthermore, they have air-conditioned rooms and outdoor spaces for the recreational activities of the detainees. They also shared that there is a library of books and other amenities that makes it less uncomfortable for the immigrants staying in their detention centers.

In the lawsuit, photos of recreational areas inside the company's facilities were attached. It included photos of cafeterias, libraries, and outdoor recreational areas. To prove that there is no overcrowding in their detainment facilities, they had attached a summary of each detainment center and its daily population. The table, reveals that the maximum capacity of their detainment centers was not reached.

Geo Group also has several lawsuits filed against them for their operations of detention facilities. Based on the article, the company is being accused of paying less than the minimum wage allowed by law for inmates.
