Ubisoft has released the first game trailer for its much-anticipated sequel of one of its most popular game franchise, Far Cry 6.

The trailer, which debuted at Ubisoft Forward digital conference on Sunday, did not show any gameplay. However, it featured a city revolting against the regime of Anton Castillo, who is played by Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito.

What's the story of Far Cry 6?

The story begins with a dictator named Anton Castillo. Castillo aims to rule his island nation of Yara as resistance fighters to take over the country.

Players will be given the option to play Dani Rojas, a freedom fighter who is responsible for stopping Castillo and his regime. Much like the previous titles in the series, Far Cry 6 offers character customization, including gender-swapping.

The current title will be set in present-day. But the environment will resemble the 1960s, with vehicles and weapons taken from that period. The game's environment was modeled after modern-day Cuba. Khavari's team have gone to Cuba to draw inspiration while creating the game.

The team spent four years navigating the island and talking with former guerillas. They also immersed themselves in Cuban music and culture to create the island of Yara. The game's dynamic would echo a beautiful postcard, with vintage cars and scenic mountains.

When is Far Cry 6's launch date?

Ubisoft is slated to launch the game on February 16, 2021. It will be made available on consoles including Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. Google's Stadia cloud gaming services and PCs will also host the latest entry in the series.

The Gameplay

Ubisoft hasn't shared many details about Far Cry 6's gameplay, released screenshots showed a variety of locales, ranging from small regions to urban surroundings.

Khavari stated that the game is focused on guerrilla warfare and players will find themselves in a situation where fighting won't only happen on the ground. Some scenes would require players to run across rooftops and navigate back alleys to win against tough opponents.
