A report from Deadline said Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had launched a production company that will be on Netflix. The multi-year deal will include streaming scripted series, docu-series, documentaries, features, and children's programs.

The New York Times reported that the couple would be paying Netflix a "cushy salary" to create whatever content they want.

The news comes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from their roles as senior members of the British royal family. They moved to California earlier this year and had been pitching movies and TV plans all around Hollywood, reported Variety.

The couple noted that their lives, by themselves and as a couple, led them to "understand the power of the human spirit." Working with diverse communities and environments, the couple homes to create content that informs and gives hope to people.

There are several projects in line for development under the Netflix deal. This includes a nature docuseries and animated series to celebrate inspiring women.

Markle said she still has no plans to return to her previous career as an actress. The last time she had been seen on TV was on her stint in legal drama Suits.

Meanwhile, The Duke was last seen closely working with filmmakers in the documentary Rising Phoenix. He also appears in the documentary, which premiered on Netflix last week.

Producing Family Programs

As new parents, they are also creating inspirational family programs. They said they are looking for powerful storytelling that families can relate to.

They also expressed how happy they were to meet with Netflix. For them, the platform has its own unique reach that can help to create their content.

Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, is also thankful to have the couple on board. "Harry and Meghan have inspired millions of people worldwide with their authenticity, optimism, and leadership," he said.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Sarandos said Netflix is proud that the Sussexes chose them as a "creative home."

Netflix has been a hub for many top talents in recent years. Some of them include Barack and Michelle Obama, Shonda Rhimes, and Ryan Murphy.

The streaming service has shelled out hundreds of millions to seal deals with creative minds behind TV hits like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Glee."

It is not yet clear how much the couple's deal with Netflix costs, but some sources claim that it went up as high as $150 million.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Aim for Diversity

A report from Vulture said the couple seeks to highlight diverse voices for their works. A source familiar with the deal also said that they want to hire diverse actors in various roles for their productions.

The report said they are actively filling in key roles for their company with a diverse group of actors.

As the couple was stripped from the "royal" branding," they founded their own nonprofit called Archewell. It is named after their son Archie.

The couple had been living in Los Angeles since March this year. The constant attention from paparazzi drew them to the small and fancy town of Montecito.

It was a move that did not sit well with neighbors, who felt like their privacy was being invaded by the paparazzi that followed the Sussexes.

The last time the couple had been seen in public was during a charity event in Los Angeles.
