Steve Mnuchin testified before the House subcommittee who are looking into another coronavirus relief aids that include stimulus checks and unemployment benefits. The U.S. Secretary of the Treasury supports having the second round of the financial benefits.

Trump's administration wants to make sure that millions of Americans will receive stimulus checks before the government operation shuts down on Oct.2. Along with this is making sure also that the weekly unemployment benefits will be extended until the end of this year.

Mnuchin described the second round of stimulus checks and the extension of unemployment benefits as critical to the economic recovery of the country. He said this after Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected the $1.3 trillion coronavirus relief aide intended for millions of Americans.

According to Mnuchin, Pres. Trump does not have the power and the ability to authorize new spending for stimulus checks and unemployment benefits but Congress does. It is for this reason that Mnuchin asked the subcommittee panel for another financial aide.

Trump's administration and the Republican lawmakers have been persistent in pushing for stimulus payments. In fact, they want Congress to deliberate it on the floor so that the benefits will be sent out as soon as possible to millions of Americans who continue to suffer the economic devastation of the pandemic.

In a recently published article in Latin Post, Mnuchin said that Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would unveil next week the details of the new stimulus bill. Around 100 Democratic lawmakers are expected to support the new stimulus bill.

It can be remembered that these Democratic lawmakers sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to accept the proposal of the White House rather than rejecting it and letting the Americans suffer due to some political issues between the two parties.

They also asked to forget, in the meantime, the bipartisan issues and deliver what Americans need in this tie of economic fallout. The talks on the second round of the stimulus package were stalled after it collapses due to disagreements on the package's total amount.

After it, Pres. Trump signed and issued an executive order that extended the unemployment benefits, suspended the collection of payroll taxes, and gave a signal through White House Chief of Staff that he will immediately sign the stimulus bill once it is on his table.

Meanwhile, Mnuchin reiterated during the House sub-committee panel hearing that he is willing to negotiate with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi anytime, even though their previous proposals for a stimulus package were rejected multiple times.

Hopefully, next week, Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell will successfully unveil before Congress the details for the next stimulus package. The financial benefits' decision needs to be made the soonest as possible or else millions of Americans will be homeless and have nothing to support themselves and their families.
