Senate Is Set To Discuss And Vote for Stimulus Bill On Tuesday
The Republican-led Senate is set to return on Tuesday, September 8, after a recess to discuss and unveil the details of the new stimulus bill.
The Republican lawmakers have been persistent in pushing for the new rounds of the stimulus bill to help millions of Americans who continue to struggle due to the economic and financial impact of the global pandemic. Despite the adversities and rejections, Senate and White House continue to push for another round of relief aids.
The Republican-led Senate will return on Tuesday, September 8, to discuss the new stimulus bill. In a previous article of Latin Post, it was reported that Republican Senator Mitch McConnell will introduce and unveil the details of the new bill that includes billions of dollars for child care providers, unemployment benefits, PPP loans, and more.
Meanwhile, it is still not clear if the new stimulus bill that the Senate will introduce includes direct stimulus checks. However, Pres. Trump who said recently urging Congress to release the unspent budget under the CARES Act for stimulus check will make sure that there will be another stimulus payments.
Even though Treasury Secretary Steve Meadows said that Pres. Trump does not have the power to spend federal funds but Congress does, Pres. Trump can still issue an executive order by diverting the unspent budget like what he did in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's unspent budget.
Moreover, the Senate will make sure that the new stimulus bill will be passed into law before government operations shut down in October. There is also a big possibility that around 100 Democratic Representatives will support the bill after they sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The letter came after the Democratic House Speaker rejected the $1.3 trillion proposed overall stimulus package of the White House during the 25-minute call initiate by White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. He called Pelosi days after his intent to have a meeting for the relief aid was also declined.
Meanwhile, both White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steve Meadows said that Pres. Trump will immediately sign the stimulus bill once it is on his table. This is to make sure that whatever the results of the elections, millions of Americans will meet their daily needs until the end of this year.
It can be remembered that Pres. Trump continuously made sure that millions of Americans will have enough money n their pockets. After the first unemployment claims under the CARES Act expired and his request to Congress to act on for the extension was rejected, he finds a way by issuing and signing an executive order for expanded unemployment claims.
Weeks after he issued the suspension of Payroll tax collection until the end of this year and he also said that he will terminate the collection if he gets reelected. Not only that, but his administration also issued National Eviction Moratorium to make sure that tenants will not be homeless amid the pandemic.
Now, another aid Trump's administration ins eyeing. It is to push for the second round of stimulus bill that hopefully Pelosi will not block along the way.
