As Congress returns this week, more Democratic-dominated Congress members are now asking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to have a new stimulus package. The Democrats, who were once united to block the second round of stimulus, now slowly break and support what the White House is pushing.

A rare new bipartisan emerged, comprised of around four dozen members of Republican and Democrats. They drafted a new stimulus package around $2 trillion that includes direct stimulus checks, $600 weekly unemployment claims, PPP Loans, and more.

It can be remembered that the Senate fell short only by eight points so that its proposed targeted bill can get into the Congress. However, with 52 votes, all Republicans, there is also a growing number of Democrats, including the Blue Dogs and the New Democrat Coalition leaders. Several front-line lawmakers facing tough re-elections are now pushing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to have a new stimulus package.

It is not only the Republicans who will benefit from the stimulus package, but it also includes the Democratic politicians who are seeking re-election. The once united Democrats are now slowly breaking and creating a bipartisan with the Republicans.

They want the Democratic House Speaker to have some version of emergency assistance for states, households, and small businesses struggling through the pandemic even if the new stimulus package does not include everything in Pelosi's checklist.

Pelosi who has always rejected the proposal of the Republican lawmakers and White House is now being pressured by his colleagues in the Democratic party. If not all, but those who are seeing for re-election call for a stimulus to be passed because it will somehow help their re-election bid.

In fact, during the caucus call last week, Democratic Rep. Derek Kilmer of Washington, head of the New Democrats, pushed for the urgency of reaching an agreement before returning home to focus on their political campaign in the upcoming election.

However, Pelosi warned them, and they were told not to be "a cheap date," After the heated argument, several Democratic lawmakers texted Kilmer to voice their support, according to a recently published article in The Hill. On Monday, he also said that he was stressing for the urgency of more funding for housing, nutrition, the Postal Service, and jobless benefits.

In an email he sent to a news outlet, he said, "What I and other New Dem Members are hearing is that our constituents are hurting. And we have a sense of urgency to keep fighting to solve these problems," Kilmer and other members of the Democrats do not want to leave Washington and do their campaign empty-handed.

After long weeks of impasse, the Republican lawmakers hope that the Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will feel the pressure within her rank who are calling for a new stimulus package.
