The second round of stimulus checks could get into bank accounts if Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could have an agreement this week.

Pelosi and Mnuchin said there could be a deal before the October recess for a new stimulus relief package. On Sunday, Pelosi revealed in an interview with CNN's state Union that she believes there is "a chance to get something done" regarding the COVID-19 relief bill.

The House could pass a deal by October 2 if it is agreed upon; for instance, Americans could get the stimulus check as early as October 12, as per CNET.

According to The Sun, last week, Pelosi and Mnuchin plan to continue discussions and work some things out about the stimulus package.

Pelosi said, "When I have a conversation with the administration, it is in good faith. I trust Secretary Mnuchin to represent something that can reach a solution, and I believe we can come to an agreement."

Negotiations For New Coronavirus Relief Package Continue At The Capitol WASHINGTON, DC - AUGUST 07: U.S. Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Sen. On Thursday, Pelosi reportedly called on Democratic leaders to assemble a new COVID-19 stimulus bill worth $2.4 trillion. Hopefully, the bill will "include aid for airlines, small businesses, states and cities, rental assistance, unemployment assistance, stimulus checks, and funding for election security for the U.S. Postal Service."

The legislation could have a vote on the House floor regardless of the bipartisan deal reached on COVID-19 relief, Pelosi also predicted. She added that the new bill would cost $2.4 trillion.

Meanwhile, last month, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told reporters that Pelosi asked for a $2.2 trillion bill, but it isn't a negotiation. The projected cost is lesser than the $3.4 trillion heroes Act passed in May by the House of Representatives.

Pelosi said that they have a chance to get something done and that they want to. "Now, let us negotiate within a time frame and a dollar amount to get the job done to put money in people's pockets, to honor our heroes, and to crush the virus," she added.

Previously, LatinPost reported that Mnuchin confirmed that he and Pelosi agreed to revise negotiations over the CARES Act or another COVID-19 stimulus package. It means that the second round of stimulus checks will be coming soon.

During a hearing with Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell, Mnuchin told the Senate Banking Committee, "I've probably spoken to Speaker Pelosi 15 or 20 times in the last few days on the CR, and we've agreed to continue to have discussions about the CARES Act."

On the other hand, Pelosi said she expects a discussion with President Trump's top negotiators in the coming days, according to The Hill. Pelosi told reporters at the Capitol, "We'll hopefully be soon to the table with them."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's comments for the second round of stimulus payments came after several months of partisan stalemate over another coronavirus relief bill.
