"This is Really Solid"- Dr. Fauci Says COVID-19 Vaccines Are Safe Despite Fast Development
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's leading disease and infectious expert, said recently that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and there is that nothing Americans should worry about.
Many Americans are quite skeptical and cast doubts about the safety and effectiveness of the virus. Majority of Americans do not want to get vaccinated because of the speed at how the vaccines were developed.
Even though many are expressing doubts over the vaccine, the country's top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci advised Americans to "put to rest" the theories that an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines are unsafe.
Promising results from clinical trials
Two of the vaccine developers have already revealed that their vaccines are 95 percent effective during the Stage 3 human clinical trial.
Pfizer has already consolidated the final data of their last stage trial and said that its vaccine is 95 percent effective. They also said that they will be applying to the U.S. FDA an Emergency Use Authorization within days, according to Fox News.
Meanwhile, Moderna also reported the results of the early data of its last stage human clinical trial and claimed that its vaccine is 94.5 percent effective. They also said that they will produce millions of doses before the year ends.
Despite the promising results of the vaccine developers, many still cast doubts about the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.
However, Dr. Fauci said, "We need to put to rest any concept that this was rushed in any inappropriate way. This is really solid."
Dr. Fauci said this after he heard that some people question the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines because they were fastly developed.
"The process of the speed did not compromise at all safety nor did it compromise scientific integrity. It was a reflection of the extraordinary scientific advances in these types of vaccines which allowed us to do things in months that actually took years before so I really want to settle that concern that people have about that," Fauci clarified.
The country's leading disease and infectious expert also gave an assurance that an "independent body" of experts are only dedicated in developing the vaccine. They do not have allegiance to the government or companies, reassured Fauci.
This means that the speed at how these developed vaccines were approved was not influenced by any political groups or any of the companies.
Dr. Fauci also asserted that people in high-priority groups could expect to get vaccinated at the end of December.
General Gustave Perna, chief operating officer of Operation Warp Speed, already laid out his plan on how the vaccines will be distributed.
He said that the vaccines will be shipped within 24 hours after the Emergency Use Authorization will be approved and people would be getting vaccinated within hours.
