The NBA officially started its free agency on Friday. There were many wild twists and turns that NBA fans did not expect to happen.

Days before the official start of the free agency, there were already different rumors of trades inside the league. Here's what happened during the first day, according to CBS Sports:

Dwight Howard

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard announced through his social media account that he would be returning to the world champion shortly after free agency officially opened.

He even posted it with the caption "Purple and gold never gets old." However, he quickly deleted it.

The Athletics' Shams Charania reported that Howard "continues to consider all of his options." Just an hour later, it was reported that Howard agreed on a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers for $2.6 million. The amount is lesser compared to the $3.1 million that the Lakers could offer to him.

De'Aaron Fox

De'Aaron Fox became the first NBA player to receive a maximum contract in the 2020 offseason free agency.

He agreed with the Sacrament Kings five-year deal that amounted to $163 million, according to CBS Sports. Meanwhile, his fellow 2017 draftees Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell are also expected to sign maximum contracts in the coming days.

Jordan Clarkson

Filipino-American player Jordan Clarkson is still one of the best bench players in the league. He is still the top priority of the Utah Jazz. He was expected to join other super teams or going back to Los Angeles Lakers after his great performance in the previous season.

However, he agreed to a $52 million four-year contract with the Jazz, a decision that definitely surprised many.

NBA Teams

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers is making its team even stronger. They made a huge decision on Friday night by getting the reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell to a $19 million two-year contract deal.

It was also reported that He turned down a lucrative offer from other teams and decided to join the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers also signed into contract NBA veteran player Wesley Matthews to a $3.6 million one-year deal contract. Another star player that you will also see in the upcoming season in the team will be Dennis Schroder.

Los Angeles Clippers

The NBA team Los Angeles Clippers was expected to get into the finals. Many sports analysts predicted that they could have the potential to make it to the championship. However, they lost against the Denver Nuggets during the Western Conference Finals

Now, the team has limited options after Harrell joined their twin team Los Angeles Lakers. The team put into contract center player Ivica Zubac and Marcus Morris for a $64 million four-year contract. However, it is still not clear if Kawhi Leonard will demand a trade.
