In September, Latin Post reported Ecuadorian spouses who have been the world's oldest married couple by Guinness World records. Since February 1941, Waldramina Quinteros and Julio Mora have been married for 79 years.
According to AP News, the couple secretly married as both families disapproved of their relationship at the time. However, the sweethearts knew from the start that they were meant for each other, so Mora slipped away from his parents to marry Quinteros.
Mora, 110, and Quinteros,104, are retired teachers living in Quito's capital city. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple missed large family gatherings.
Cecilia, Mora's and Quinteros' daughter, described the couple as active, lucid, and in good health. The couple has felt a bit depressed by the ongoing health crisis, as per Cecilia.
She explained that they have been different, more downcast because of missing large family gatherings for several months.
The Ecuadorian couple had the Guinness World of Records certification and their prize from the world-famous record-keeping authority.
The spouses enjoyed many happy moments and faced challenges like the other married couples, according to the Guinness World Records. But the couple's love and respect for each other remains the same, which secured the title of the oldest married couple.
