Father and Son Make History in Texas as They Graduate Police Academy Together
A father and a son made history in Texas as they both graduated together in a police academy program together in the Tarrant County College's Law Enforcement Academy.
The global pandemic did not hinder a father and a son to graduate together in the Tarrant County College's Law Enforcement Academy. Both of them proved that life should go on amid the pandemic that continues to devastate our lives.
Winston and Christian Edmondson both made history in Texas, according to a published report in KTVT. The duo headed down on the same path and on the same purpose. This is also the very first in the Police Academy that a father and a son both completed the program.
A father's life-long dream
Damon Ing, a member of the Tarrant Law Enforcement Academy, told the news outlet People, "As we all know, police officers are entering a very turbulent time in our society and it was very refreshing that a father and son duo wanted to actually come."
Winston Edmondson, the father, shared in the news outlet that his decision to become a police officer has long been his dream. Amid the pandemic, he found a way to achieve his almost forgotten dream.
"I had been thinking about getting into law enforcement and I had been encouraging both my sons to get into law enforcement," Winston explained to the news outlet.
He has long been encouraging his sons to join the law enforcement but only his son Christian did.

Winston decided to join his son in the police academy instead of letting Christian taking the program alone. The two said that after they joined the academy, they found themselves to be pushing one another to be better. They also described this as their special bonding.
Christian said, "My dad and I are really competitive. This academy was good for both of us, I think, because it kind of gave us a bond."
Meanwhile, Winston replied and said, "There were a few times I got the better of him. Not often, but hey!"
Even though they both graduated and completed the program, the two of them will be separated because of their assigned department.
Christian was officially sworn into the Flower Mound Police Department on Thursday, while Winston considered some offers.
Moreover, they are not the only ones who grabbed attention in the Police Academy. William Shaw, 61 years old, also made history after completing the police academy.
In fact, the Grapevine Police posted on their social media account, "Please join us in congratulating our newest Officer William Shaw. He was sworn in this morning, just before graduating from the police academy. Welcome to our family!"
William Shaw highlighted the importance of perseverance, and claimed that "age doesn't matter." The Department congratulated the 61-year-old man and showed his badge while he took his oath to become part of the police law enforcement.
