First of all, Thanksgiving before never forced people into social distancing. Many Americans are disappointed that the celebrations this year won't be the same, but there are still ways to make it a memorable occasion.

The best way to make the most of it while still abiding by Thanksgiving safety rules is being there with loved ones virtually.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urged people to practice social distancing and to stay indoors to avoid infections from the coronavirus.

Thankfully, we live in the 21st century and the age of the internet. So keeping in touch can be done with just a few clicks.

Here are some tips to make a safe yet memorable Thanksgiving this year.

People have likely gotten used to communicating through Zoom these days. Why should the holidays be any different?

After all, it's all about keeping everyone healthy and safe so they can enjoy a wonderful holiday season.

Don't Travel But If You Do, Do It Safely

CDC said the lowest risk scenario if people want to take this option is to travel with no stops to a destination, reported CNBC.

It is best to travel only with the people you live with.As for using public transportation like the bus or a plane, there are other guidelines for that, but it's riskier since you'll have to depend on other people's behavior as well.

Just keep in mind that different parts of the country have different infection rates and safety protocols. 

Watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade

Surely, the Thanksgiving day parade will be different this year, but it will still go on. According to Good Housekeeping, the parade will proceed even without a crowd.

"It will not be a live parade, but something that will really give us that warmth and that great feeling we have on Thanksgiving day," said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. 

Get Tested and Make Sure to Quarantine

If you are attending a gathering, you will potentially come across someone who has COVID-19. So to be on the safe end, get tested for the coronavirus before meeting with your loved ones.

It will serve as a precaution, not just for you, but for the people you will be meeting. Next, once the event is over, make sure you limit going out and quarantine for two weeks.
